UEFA Cup draw: Werder - Braga
By: Arian |
Werder will face SC Braga in the UEFA Cup. The first game will be played at Weserstadion either Wednesday, 13.02.2008 or Thursday, 14.02.2008. The return leg will be played on Thursday, 21.02.2008.
The winner of these two will face either Rangers or Panathinaikos.
Now I don’t know much about Braga. But one thing’s for sure, they’re not Real Madrid. Though they managed to get a draw against Bayern in the group phase.
They finished second. They had 1 win, 3 draws and none loses.
1 Bayern Munich
2 Braga
3 Bolton
4 Aris Salonika
5 Crvena Zvezda
Their last five game record (both UEFA and Portuguese League) : WDWWD
As I said they’re not Real but they can get tricky.
Looking back at the draw I realize it could have been worse. But this is a decent opponent. They’re not unbeatable. And a team like Werder would have big chances of winning them.
Klasnic is back… and so am I
By: Arian |
Firstly I apologize for my absence. Rough month.
Werder fans had a lot of reasons to be happy.
1. As you know Werder won 5:2 against Leverkusen.
2. Klasnic is back. And when I say back, I mean back. Doing what he does best, scoring goals. Thank God.
3. Bayern’s second in a row draw. Which makes us leveled with them at the standings.
Here can also be included the fact that the Winter break has started so the team can rest. They won’t have any major game ’till 03.02.2008 when they meet Bochum at home.
Bayern are Winter champions but only because of the better goal difference
Bayern Munich 36 pts + 23
Werder Bremen 36 pts + 18
Hamburg SV 32 pts + 11
Bayer Leverkusen 30 pts + 16
Schalke 04 29 pts + 9
Also we’re out of Champions League (which was expected after 3 or 4 fixtures) and we can totally focus on winning the Bundesliga.
Energie Cottbus - Werder Bremen short preview
By: Arian |This should definitely be an interesting game. Both teams need points. One to keep up with Bayern. the other to get away from the relegation zone. It’s the second vs the last at Stadion der Freundschaft in Cottbus. Winning against the last team in the league could be an easy job to do but teams in Germany must not relax at any time. It’s quite unpredictable here.
Standings…
Bayern Munich 28pts
Werder Bremen 27pts
Hamburg SV 27pts
Karlsruhe 26pts
Bayer Leverkusen 21pts
The game…
Werder will be missing Tyson and Lennox Lewis. I mean… Sanogo and Carlos Alberto (I wonder why?)… Almeida, Frings, Wome, Owomoyela are injured.
Energie Cottbus are missing: Baumgart, Bassila and Kukielka.
Possible formations…
Werder 4-3-1-2: Wiese; Fritz, Mertesacker, Naldo, Pasanen; Jensen, Andreasen, Borowski; Diego; Schindler/Klasnic, Rosenberg
- As you know Sanogo and Almeida are missing. Klasnic is back but I don’t think he’ll start. So probably Schindler will start.
Cottbus (taken from Goal.com): Tremmel, da Silva, Mitreski, Cvitanovic, Ziebig, S.Angelov, Rivic, Rost, Skela, Sörensen, Rangelov
Boxing Club Werder Bremen
By: Arian |Boxing Club Werder Bremen…

Want to join?
Tyson vs Lewis. Who won? Werder. They both got punished. And that’s what they deserve… I mean… how stupid of them?! They’re professionals for God’s sake. One thing… Good job in handling the situation Schaaf.
Apparently, Carlos Alberto is a known troublemaker. He’s known as the synonym for “trouble” back in Brazil. But some say Sanogo started the whole thing.
Nevermind everything… this shouldn’t have happened!
Newsy

Fenin…
FK Teplice became actual these days because of their attacker Martin Fenin. Numerous teams across Europe are after him. Guess what… Werder too. There were some rumors like this before but none of them seemed plausible enough. Now they’re out there again.

Consolating 4:0
By: Arian |It felt good to be a Werder fan on Saturday. It felt good to watch the team play. It felt good to watch Diego’s brilliance on the pitch. He was everywhere. He did everything he wanted with the ball.
Werder Bremen – Karlsruher 4:0
Karlsruher started nicely. Created a few chances. But soon Werder took control of the game. Diego opened the result in the 25th minute and then made it 2:0 in the 45th. Almeida got himself on the scoresheet in the 66th minute. Finally, Naldo gave the final result in the 76th minute.
Formations…
Werder 4-3-1-2: Wiese; Fritz, Mertesacker, Naldo, Pasanen; Jensen, Andreasen, Borowski; Diego; Almeida, Rosenberg
Karlsruher 4-2-3-1: Kornetzky; Gorlitz, Eggiman, Franz, Eichner; Mutzel, Porcello; Hajnal, Timm, Carnell; Kapllani
To only make the day better and make the joy bigger, Bayern lost (vs Stuttgart 3:1) and HSV got only a draw (vs Schalke 1:1). So we’re now second with only a point behind the leader Bayern.
Standings…
Bayern 28 pts
Werder Bremen 27 pts
Hamburg 27 pts
Karlsruher SC 23 pts
Hannover 96 21 pts
Werder - Karlsruher preview
By: Arian |
The next phase of Champions League is getting away for now. We still have chance though, but they’re theoretical. In the next two games we host Real and go south to Greece where a solid Olympiakos and a crowd that can create hell wait us.

Werder - Hansa preview
By: Arian |
So… four won games in a row at home and it’s likely that, after Saturday, they will be five. Hansa are a team that strong teams like Werder are expected to beat. It is needless to say that these kind of teams should be won in order to keep up with Bayern.

Sorry. Couple of problems occurred but I’m back now. Full steam.
Schalke – Werder…
A 1:1 draw that didn’t quite help us. We’re now third with Hamburger SV with two and the Bavarians six points ahead of us. Read the rest of this entry »
