3:2… Neeeeeext!!!
By: Arian | October 23rd, 2007
Weserstadion saw another beautiful game and another win. The possession of the ball clearly shows who dominated the game, also the shots taken both in and off goal.
Match Stats
26 Shots 12
11 Shots on gol 5
16 Fouls 18
5 Corner Kicks 2
2 Offsides 4
64 Time % 36
Werder started the game with their standard 4-3-1-2 formation.
Wiese
Fritz – Mertesacker – Naldo – Pasanen
Jensen – Frings – Borowski
Diego
Almeida – Sanogo
Hertha had a 3-3-3-1 formation.
Drobny
von Bergen – Dardai – Fathi
Ebert – Grahn – Gilberto
Pantelic
The first half was goalless even though there were quite good chances to open up the score. The second half saw all the goals fall. First, in the 57th minute Almeida scored the first goal after a quick counterattack, then, Rosenborg came in instead of Sanogo who could not be quite happy with his performance. Four minutes later Gilberto equalizes. That didn’t last long. As soon as the game kicked off again, substitute Rosenborg scored his second goal of the season. Diego was the assistant (he assisted the first also…), the ball arrived to Almeida who made a wonderful 1-2 header pass with Rosenborg. Andreasen made it 3:1 and the final 3:2 was a job of Okoronkwo.
With the latest win Werder climbed on the second spot, sharing it with Hamburger SV with 20 points and they are 6 points behind Bayern.
1 Bayern München 26 pts
2 Werder Bremen 20 pts
3 Hamburger SV 20 pts
4 Karlsruher SC 19 pts
5 FC Schalke 04 17 pts
This is not unreachable. There are a lot of games till the end and there is no doubt that Bayern will lose some points. We just need to keep this form. And the next game is going to be a tough one. Schalke away. If we survive this one, the next two are easier. We play Hansa and Karlsruher, both at home.
But first comes the Werder – Lazio game. And I hope we fu*kin destroy them. Firstly because we damn need to win this, and secondly because I support Roma in Italy.
Lazio preview is a bit late and I apologize. I will post it later this evening, or early in the morning.
And one more thing…
The highlights of Werder – Hertha:

A good result prior to the CL match. It seems or at least I hope that Werder has found its rhythm now.

Good overview. It was fun to get a game on Gol this week as Werder haven’t been visible lately on the network. I have written some stuff at my blog about Werder that might interest you.
