Juventus wants Diego
By: Jackson | January 2nd, 2009As per “La Gazzetta dello Sport” Juventus is preparing to make an offer on Diego with him eventually replacing Pavel Nedvěd. The article contends Diego and the Serie A squad have already come to an agreement with an expected transfer price of €25m. While other media outlets have picked up this story I have not seen separate confirmation of the reputed agreement or anything to suggest that it is more than rumour. Time will tell on this.

Exactly Jackson. Tons of talk on this one, we’ll see how it goes. I sure wouldn’t mind though if it came true.

It seems that more and more people are accepting that it’s time for Diego to go. 25 mill is a lot of money, and Werder needs to spent all of it. Pizarro move needs to be made permanent; every line needs more competition for positions, especially the defense; the defense also needs some experienced players, not apprentices with promise; and Diego should be replaced with a ready-made, experienced player. Ozil is good and getting better every game, but he cannot be a creative leader, yet.

I am biased on this because of my present work and think they should not refuse the offer if it is actually this large. €25m in the winter of 2009 could be invested very wisely and as many aspects of the sport are shaken during financial fallout, that money could be used to solidify long term operations, academies and so on. We’ll see though – just posting on it now. I better hurry or I won’t have time to do, jajaja

What are your thoughts on the possible player plus cash deal with Madrid, bringing van der vaart to Werder?

Felix, in my humble opinion, I think that Van der Vaart would be good for Werder, but Madrid would have to include some cash. Diego has certainly higher valuation than Van der Vaart – oh, let’s say a ballpark €10m in cash.

If that happens PJ, that would be really great! Though my heart still wants Diego to stay in Bremen!
