Naldo Signs an Extension
By: Jamie | September 11th, 2009Yesterday, striker defender Naldo signed an extension to his contract that will keep him in Bremen until 2013. So we’ll keep our beastly partnership of giants Naldo and Mertesacker for just a little bit longer, hopefully. And we’ll continue to have Naldo’s amazing shooting boots – the man has scored 5 goals for Werder in various competitions already this season! That’s more than most strikers already… so what do we call him? A striking defender? Defensive striker?
As a refresher, here’s one of Naldo’s traditional freekicks against Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Cup final (if you can bear it!):
So Naldo will stay on an extra year at least, but does that help the defense? Should we be focusing more on improving the fullbacks or would you rather see someone else join the defenders in the middle?

Naldo is a beast. I remember he scored a hatrick in two seasons ago.

Wasn’t there talk a few weeks before the season started that Schaaf said “Naldo is no longer part of our long term plan”?! I thought he was to be transferred before August was up!
